Stella & Andrealphus
đ´ââ ď¸ Pirate AU! â ď¸âď¸
Peace through tyranny. Dominance through strength. Control through fear. These are what keep the waters of Hell flowing.
Deep within the wretched seas of Hell lies the great Pentagram in the Sea of Pride, governed by the noble Ars Goetiaâ masters of magic, swordsmanship, and the Seven Deadly Seas. In the beginning, only the denizens of Hell posed any threat to the Pentagram, with the occasional pirate attack or mutiny, nothing that couldnât be handled by Pentagram soldiers. The water was calm, peaceful even, until the Sinners arrived. Humans, some possessing incredible power, began to flood the gates of Hell; storming the Seven Deadly Seas like a broken dam. What was once a safe haven was now plagued by bandits, cheats, gangs, and outlaws, but none were bigger and more dangerous than the dreaded Pirate Overlords, who would stop at nothing to become the undeniable rulers of the seas. Together, these Pirate Overlords created a loosely defined organization of pirates and outlaws, the most notorious of the Overlords being the Veeâs and their war-changing inventions.
As trade rapidly declined between the Seas, the Pentagram, desperate for a solution, formed the Goetian Empire. Led by King Paimon, King Beleth, and King Bael, the Empire swiftly became the defining force of the seas; partly because of the Ars Goetian armada, overseen by a select few Goetians worthy of battling pirates.
Now, as more and more sinners seem to come into Hell, bringing new ideas and dangerous knowledge, the Goetian Empire faces traitors from within, pirates beyond its walls, and outlaws inside its borders. Indeed, the seas have never been more chaotic, dangerous, and bountiful.
Andrealphus was originally a Marquis of the Ars Goetia and a captain of his own vessel, The Gelid Sword of the Frozen Lakes, before he acquired Stolasâs title of prince, his assets, and his fleet. Drunk on success and power, Andrealphus has turned Stolasâs fleet into icy ships inlaid with frozen statues of Andrealphusâs enemies. While he is trained on swordsmanship, he much prefers the reliability and range of his icy magic. Andrealphus is somewhat of a collector, in fact: assigned to track down and hunt several pirate overlords and criminals, he has decorated his own personal ship with the frozen statues of his adversaries, his most important one being a statue of... himself. Despite all his bravado, charisma, and confidence, heâs actually an egotistical and pathological narcissist who will do anything to preserve his power, reputation, and image.
Stella is a Marchioness following her divorce with Stolas. She is the much more pathetic, yet much more fierce, younger sister of Andrealphus who is known for having an extremely small temper coupled with the maturity of a spoiled brat. While she doesnât have her own ship, she frequents her brotherâs. Sheâs overlooked by her brother and most superiors, who use her lack of intellect to manipulate her into furthering their goals. Despite this, she is still incredibly strong, capable of lifting grown imps and throwing them like ragdolls. She boasts about knowing magic and fencing, but really she has no idea how to use themâ at least not in any meaningful manner. Like her brother, she despises lower class demonsâ especially impsâ but she is much more obvious and transparent with her hatred than her brother. The only thing she truly excels in is marksmanshipâ which she learned after seeing how powerful and feared they are. Take away her flintlock and musket, however, and sheâs just a rude, tall, strong, and pompous bird whoâs never had to work a day in her life.
Hell is divided into Seven Seas, each one possessing its own color and distinction. The seas can be traveled through sailing via specific routes throughout the Pentagram, nicknamed the Expressways, which magically transport vessels into the other planes of existence that are the Seas. Each sea has its own species, rulers, and traditions, though all seas are ultimately governed by the Morningstars.
1st Sea (Pride): Led by the Ars Goetian Empire. Functioning as the primary trade center of Hell, Pride is made of numerous islands in the shape of a Pentagram. Each island is ruled by a Duke of the Ars Goetia, and each cluster of island is ruled by a King, and there are three clusters. The kings, Paimon, Bael, and Beleth, function as a consulate. The Pentagram is beseeched on all sides and from within by pirates, outlaws, traitors, criminals, and organized crime, making it the most dangerous place in all of Hell.
2nd Sea (Wrath): Completely overtaken by Hellborn outlaws and bounty hunters, the âWild West of the Oceanâ is loosely held together by treaties, both official and courtesy, between crime groups. Enormous gangs that control the flow of Souls (the currency of Hell, not literal souls), the most infamous being the Loan Sharks; dangerous mafias that tax roads and eliminate rivals, the most well known being the Crimson Mafia; and thousands of small guilds of thieves and bandits, the most notorious being the Siren Succubi, who lure Hellborn into a trance and steal both their valuables and their lives. The only semblance of law is Satan himself, who resides in his castle atop the highest volcano.
3rd Sea (Gluttony): Controlled by the rich and wealthy, who leave the poor to starve and burn, this sea is widely regarded as being the most hated simply because of the power imbalance. All of the imports and exports, primarily food and alcohol, are controlled by the Beelzebub Regime, leaving the power of the sea in the hands of the top 0.1%. Corruption runs rampant in this sea, where the âlawâ reigns supreme in the discretion of soldiers and the wealthy. Ruled by Queen Beelzebub, notorious for her giant parties, who single handedly controls most of the food distribution in all the Seven Deadly Seas.
4th Sea (Greed): Often considered the most soulless and cruel sea to live in, Greed is mostly inhabited by wealthy demons and their subordinates. To live here without connections is to die without a wallet. No deal is without a hidden motive or ulterior motive, and no coin is traded with a dagger in hand. Led by King Mammon and his courts, Greed functions as the primary entertainment centerâ housing numerous shows, circuses, restaurants, and the latest and greatest of technologyâ all at a price unholy.
5th Sea (Lust): Sometimes called the most ruthless and violent of the Seas, no corner is safe. Whether itâs in the treacherously violent waters, controlled by the Sirens Succubi, or on the unstable land of clubs and brothels that have been consumed by desire and possession. Not only do the degenerate call this sea home, but the possessive and obsessive, who refuse to have anything else. Led by King Asmodeus and his royal court.
Note: Lust is not only sexual. It can be, but itâs mostly possessive. Ex. âI see that car, I want THAT car, not one exactly like it, I want that exact car and will do anything it takes to get it.â
6th Sea (Envy): Undoubtedly the most treacherous and dangerous of the seas, storms of epic magnitude cover the surface of the sea while ship-destroying waves and currents dominate the underwater. There are few outposts and cities, mainly inhabited by demons seeking asylum or, more commonly, to avoid persecution, and those locations are battered by constant winds, hurricanes, and floods. Economy is not a factor in these citiesâ everyone gets their rations and pulls their own ropes. Hard work, dedication, and community are the core of these cities above water, and death, cruelty, and unforgiving nature are the principle of nature. Formerly led by Leviathan, the enormous monster said to span the entire Envy Sea, she has since gone into hibernation in the deepest depths of the seaâ but some say her tentacles still attack and sink ships, or perhaps they belong to her âchildrenâ, the krakens.
7th Sea (Sloth): The most extravagant, relaxing, and beautiful of all the seas, even the ocean itself seems to sleep. Alit by a pink moon, the waters and sky shimmer a glittering cotton candy blue, and the cities hold little crime. The primary exporter of drugs, this sea has deep connections to the Lamb Cartels, who mostly outsource their work to Wrath, while spending most of their time sleeping or lounging about. Officially led by Queen Baphomet, who has been asleep for the last hundred years, the sea is unofficially ruled by the Countess Kelliala, a disavowed member of the Ars Goetia who possesses the willpower and dominance to both stay awake and keep others awake.
The Pirate Factions
The pirates function more as a community council than an officially governed body. Segments of the seas, territories belonging to the Pirate Overlords, are treated like playgrounds with little rules or regulations. There are a few primary pirate organizations, however:
The Veeâs: Led by Voxbeard (who ironically does not have a beard), the unofficial Marchioness Velvette, and Valentino, these pirates pride themselves on their technological superiority and âloyaltyâ from their crew mates. They primarily reside in the far southeast of Pride, controlling the Entertainment District of the Pentagram with an iron fist.
The Carmines: Less âpiratesâ and more privateers, the Carmines, led by honorary Countess Carmilla Carmine, serve as the head of weapons productionâ making highly sought after angelic cutlasses, muskets, musket balls, flintlocks, and even cannonballs. How? Because of the daily Exterminations, where Pride and Pride alone is attacked by the angelic Exorcist Legion, led by Admiral Adam and Vice Admiral Lute, who sail from unknown waters into Pride every New Years Eve to purge the Sinners. And where the angels fight, their steel follows. The Carmines, in cahoots with Pirate Overlords Zestial, have perfected the art of mobilization to collect angelic steel right after the last of Adamâs armada leaves. The Carmines have huge territory in the northeast waters, and have a monopoly in the Industrial District; because of this, and the diplomatic personally of Carmilla, the Carmines are backed by the Ars Goetia, who made Carmilla an honorary countess.
The Kaiju Lords: Known for their enormous vessels, needed to house the huge kaiju sinners, they prefer to keep to themselves in the Entertainment District alongside the Veeâs, as well as in the southwest waters. Led by Zeezi, these pirates, despite being enormous kaiju, are actually quite tame and calmâ preferring to drink and party rather than rampage and destroy, but make no mistake, they are among the most powerful and dangerous demons in all of Hell.
The Zestial Circle: While not an official pirate overlord, Zestial has such deep connections and spies in all corners of Hell that is he considered as one. Many pay top dollar to know what secrets he holds. Playing all sides, though with an uncanny loyalty to Carmilla Carmine, Zestial has made a fortune by playing neutral and establishing dominance through his web of shadow informants.
