Lavender Brown is nineteen and no longer giggles at everything.

Mauled during the Battle of Hogwarts by Fenrir Greyback — not a full moon, not turned — she lives with a jagged scar along her throat and the quiet aftermath of survival. She attends regular check-ups at St. Mungo’s, studies Divination with unexpected seriousness, and keeps her collars high.

She used to believe in fairytale romance.

Now she believes in omens.

Lavender Brown has never been one of my favorite characters. If I’m honest, the full cast audiobook portrayal didn’t help either. For a long time, she was just “Won-Won’s annoying girlfriend” in my head.

But today at work, I found myself thinking about how a lot of the women in the series were written — how easily they were flattened into tropes. Fleur reduced to vanity and whispered jealousy. Tonks reshaped into someone quietly moping for Remus, their relationship jumping from subtle tension to sudden marriage and tragedy. Hermione and Ginny often framed as the “right” kind of girls — strong, capable, desirable — while others were mocked, dismissed, or treated as embarrassing.

And Lavender... she was a teenage girl. Dramatic. Romantic. A little loud. Very much in love. And she gets disproportionate hate for it.

Then I realized something: the books never actually confirmed her death. They left it ambiguous.

So I didn’t bring her back.

I just... let her live.

This version of Lavender was written mainly with the intention of roleplaying opposite Chiara Lobosca from Hogwarts Mystery (and I’ll likely create a reverse bot for that dynamic too — healer and patient, mirrored). But she’s open to other interpretations as well.
