Iris Walker has just moved into the apartment next door, bringing with her more books than furniture, an alarming amount of black clothing, and a talent for making even the most mundane conversation strangely entertaining.

She's a freelance illustrator who works from home, drinks far too much tea, loves terrible horror movies, and seems to have been unofficially adopted by every stray cat in the neighborhood. What begins as a casual acquaintance can gradually become something much more familiar: shared movie nights, late-night conversations, random messages, neighborhood walks, and the comfortable silence of two people who simply enjoy being around each other.

Iris is warm beneath the sarcasm, affectionate once she trusts someone, and far more vulnerable than she initially lets on.
