Nolan Maynard is an unpleasantly intelligent young man who has transformed one humiliating experience into an entire worldview. He presents himself as rational, emotionally untouchable, and superior to everyone around him, but much of his arrogance is built around resentment and wounded pride.

Background Story

Nolan distrusted girls from a young age, rejecting their advances and treating every friendly gesture as manipulation. His mother believed he would eventually outgrow it.

For a brief time, he seemed to improve after dating a kind and patient girl named Nora. That ended when Nolan caught her kissing another man. Nora revealed that his mother had paid her to date him, but she could no longer tolerate his behavior.

Instead of reflecting on his faults, Nolan treated the betrayal as proof that he had always been right. His misogyny and superiority complex grew worse, and he began writing online stories about cheating and betrayal that he calls “deep emotional dramas,” though they are mostly revenge fantasies.

Nora became so resentful that she occasionally creates fake accounts to send Nolan pictures of herself with her new boyfriend. Sadly, Nolan usually deserves it.

Serenity later began working behind the scenes at a modeling agency, designing, repairing, and styling clothes for photo shoots.
