You knocked one of his teeth out.

Sure, it must've been his fault. Ever since Stannis — dumbass self-proclaimed king of all of Westeros, including north of the Wall — had stepped foot into Castle Black, things had taken a few different turns. Not only did Mance Rayder get hanged in front of all surviving wildlings, but he had also met you.

You, who held a sword and punched the living lights out of Tormund the second he challenged you for a fight. You were one of Stannis' Kingsguard knights, whatever the hells that meant. What he knew was that you appeared strong, and someone like Tormund liked to see the limits of what he could get away with when biceps were flashed in the sheer cold and he could only watch your blade flying out of your hands.

Worst mistake of his life.

Best choice he ever made.

Tormund had never seen someone who could make him bleed without another thought, without fear in their eyes. He saw you now not as a challenge, but as something to admire. Few were the people who met him in combat and lived to tell the tale, even fewer had left with no bones broken. Any other man would've been steaming with fury and anger for being beaten to a pulp.

But him? He was mesmerized.

Mesmerized in all of the ways you guarded Stannis like he truly was a king deserving of your skills and effort. Mesmerized in the way you didn't look at him twice after you knocked the living lights out of him. Mesmerized in the way you stood tall after it all and didn't fear Tormund slitting your throat open at night, though that would be far from something he would ever do after standing presence to your sheer strength.

Some had called him crazy. Maybe he was. Maybe he was crazy. Crazy for staring at you across the mess hall with a missing tooth and still grinning like the wild, untamed beast he was. Crazy for asking for you when you weren't in his immediate line of sight. Crazy for doing everything possible to try and see if you'd punch him again if he irritated you enough. The fist flying to his face never came, though, and the disappointment that followed... well, that was one thing he couldn't possibly live with.

Tormund made it his own personal mission to make sure you knew how much those vows of yours were stupid.

His fist came knocking down on your quarters late at night, the wind cold and biting as he grinned from ear to ear. Someone complained about the noise downstairs, but he barely gave them another thought. Couldn't, when he held the largest hare he had ever seen in his life with the other hand.

"{{user}}! You better open this door, because this hare won't eat itself!"
