Sterling Creek is a secluded town where everyone knows each other, the town only functions because generations have worked to grow it into the self-functioning place it is today. By day, everything is normal, just like any regular, boring town.

But that's not what it really is. Don't let it fool you, this town holds mysteries that go beyond the comprehension of many of its residents.

By night is when the town really comes to life, front businesses close their blinds and the real businesses turn the lights on, letting anyone who dares get a glimpse of the secret function of Sterling creek. Dirty money. Crimes. You can get anything you desire once the red lights turn on.

ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ ʙᴜʀᴇᴀᴜ ᴏғ ᴇᴄᴏɴᴏᴍʏ ꨄ: The general bureau of economy (also known as the GBE) Location and other information: located on Main Street, The GBE is a tall building of about five floors containing (mostly) offices and also, A bank on the second and third floor. This bank works exactly like a regular one for the exception that the GBE's bank never seems to really close down for the night like regular businesses and when one goes at the bank late in the night, the loans are practically dirt cheap, sometimes even free.

ʟᴏᴄᴀʟ ʟɪʙʀᴀʀʏ დ: nothing much to say about the library, it's an average two-floor Library. Most of the people going there are students who need books for their curriculum. The lady at the counter loves to gossip with people but other than that, regular library. It already existed at the very beginning of the town's existence but nowadays, the only people who go there are desperate students who can't find information on their phones or mystery lovers who want to know more about the town's strange history.

ᴍᴀɪɴ sᴛʀᴇᴇᴛ დ: The Central Commercial District of Sterling Creek, where the everyday folks all live, whether it's the students or the elderly, centered on Main Street and Ophelia Road. it's a seemingly quiet, self-sufficient town hub that functions as a polished front for Matsuko’s organisation. By day, ordinary folks patronize local storefronts, the library, and the General Bureau of Economy (GBE) for normal every day life; by night, the district reveals its dark counterpart: as the GBE hands out late-night debt-trapping loans, Laurent’s law firm quietly scrubs criminal records, and power players gather at The Red Herring pub under the subtle, watchful eyes of the boss lady's enforcers. Every houses except for the richer folks houses are in there.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴏʟᴅ ʙʀɪᴅɢᴇ ꨄ: The only known way in or 'out' of town. Not many folks roam around these parts unless they absolutely have to. Rumors say that the night people started going missing, years ago, they were trying to leave Sterling creek. Since those people were never seen again, many older people are saying that it's impossible to get out once you're past the old bridge.

ʟᴏᴄᴀʟ ᴜɴɪᴠᴇʀsɪᴛʏ ꨄ:A university campus, more modern as it was rebuilt years prior for unknown reasons. Combines all level of education yet seperates them in multiple wings. Students of all grades and majors are strictly forbidden from going to the old campus ruins, again for unknown reasons, however some still do to smoke or party there.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴏʟᴅ ᴏʙsᴇʀᴠᴀᴛᴏʀʏ ꨄ: Today, the site is a jagged, weed-choked graveyard of collapsed arches, cracked marble steps, and hollowed-out foundations sitting in the shadow of the rotting observatory dome but back in the past, it was a grand campus with dormitories and expensive-looking fountains that were the pride of the town. Nowadays, students are forbidden from going there but it still serves as a party spot or as a place university students go to drink, smoke or hookup while being hidden from everyone's eyes despite the rules. The woods are practically impenetrable, choking off any path out of the town save for the lone, winding roads over the Old Bridge. Sterlingers who try to cut through the trees to escape the town’s reach inevitably lose their sense of direction, wandering in circles until they either turn back or simply disappear. Town folklore warns against straying into the trees after dark. While older residents claim the forest itself is a living entity that refuses to let people leave Sterling Creek, the truth is a mix of natural hazards, syndicate violence, and whatever unearthly anomaly was stirred up during the old campus incident.

Social structure

The people: The local organized crime family. They are in charge of pretty much everything. The people are called Sterlingers

Hierarchy: the small business owners who's shops aren't fronts for the organization, the regular town folks are the lower class, the people at the top are rich and influential folks who work for the Boss lady.

How different social classes live together: regularly. The difference isn't noticeable unless someone looks really hard. The main nuance is that the influential folks are the ones in power. The regular folks aren't miserable unless they rebel against power and cause their own suffering. Sterling creek is essentially an Oligarchy.

Education: Sterling creek has one educational building and it does all at once, from elementary to university, in many many wings, that's why the university campus is this big. There are no dorms on campus but the wings are separated so a person in college wouldn't be studying next to university students and so forth.

ᴇᴄᴏɴᴏᴍʏ: all of the economy is either dealt with by the General Bureau of Economy or by 'The banker' himself. Tashiro owns and funds all of it, his network being worth billions somehow.

Legal system: there is a legal system in Sterling creek, although it's usually for small infractions and there isn't exactly a known jail. No one knows where the people who get severely convicted actually go. As for the ethics, people just adopt the ethics that the organized crime wants them to adopt, just so they can keep living their regular lives. There are some rebels but it doesn't usually end up well.

Relationship with other towns: Sterling creek is entirely closed off from the other towns/States and the entrance is only obtained by driving through lone roads for a while so it's relatively unknown to outsiders. They are a self-sufficiant town.

Government: there isn't a mayor or any concrete government, the local crime family are in charge of all of it and it works well, usually. It's not a dictatorship by any means and it isn't Anarchy either, Matsuko makes sure to let people live their lives like in a regular town but there's never any elections.

Population: barely 2000 people

Environment: A mix of modern and more rural, less developed. In the center of the town, it's more modern with the BoE, the offices, the businesses and on the edges it's mostly forest and lonely roads with nothing in sight. The climate is often the same; mild but comfortable, that or it rains, it's never black or white.

The main cast

Matsuko/The Boss Lady: inherited the crime family business from her father, she's a bratty young woman, gets rid of anything and anyone that gets on her nerves, long black hair and thin dark eyes, always seen in expensive clothes, described as a merciless person by many, not often seen in public unless at the Red Herring or in the bureau of Economy.

Tashiro/The banker: he funds every single thing in town, especially the crime-related stuff and owns most of it too. He's the one Matsuko trusts the most to be in public because he has a way with words, always polite, like a cunning fox. Long navy blue hair with a few white streaks in it, not from age but for aesthetics, styled in a masculine low ponytail and thin purple eyes. Wears glasses, always seen in old money-styled outfits. Everyone knows and likes him, he's very reliable and comprehensive, he's just corrupt and loves crime without getting his hands dirty. Works at the General Bureau of economy, which is also known as the GBE.

Laurent/The lawyer: The one responsible for when shit hits the fan or when Matsuko messes up and has to attend court. While he's very trusted by Matsuko, he doesn't seem to have a great relationship with his boss, often referring to Matsuko as a merciless asshole and seems to get along with Tashiro better, since he finds the banker to be more intelligent and manipulating, some saying they're often seen together because Laurent wants to keep an eye on Tashiro. He has severe trust issues but covers it up by watching over people who he's suspicious of so they can't manipulate him. He used to be a regular attorney and as switched sides after seeing the system forgive monsters. He's the only person in the organization who has a known spouse that isn't in the organization as well. Long black hair in a low ponytail, mixed up eye color, one green and one blue. Known for his unreadable face and the suits he always wears. He prefers to get straight to business and doesn't like small talk.

Eve/The hunter: Matsuko's right hand woman and her personal hitwoman. Unlike the others, she doesn't seem to have a full name, her records are all clear and she only goes by Eve. Her absence of messing around and absolute skill at what she does is what made the boss lady get in contact with her years ago. Her title is 'The hunter' because her method of operation is a hunting rifle. She never misses. She's known for her constantly blazed expression and seemingly lack of care. She only does what Matsuko wants and doesn't trust anyone, therefore not going out unless she has to. Shoulder-lenght dark brown hair in a wolfcut and dark khaki colored eyes. Usually wearing casual clothes. Seems to be in her relatively early twenties.

Valerie/The biker: Matsuko's second right hand woman. Unlike Eve, Valerie is tasked with not eliminating enemies but to make sure that people, whoever they might be, still obey to the organization's demands. Her job is mostly concerning potential rebels or enemies who aren't just yet necessary needing Eve's services. Her title is 'The biker' because she like her motorcycle's engine, she's loud as hell and imposing most of the time. She doesn't really hang out with any of her colleagues and just has a small group of biker friends who she hangs out with at the Red Herring. Some say that it's possible that Matsuko might've had a crush on her at some point but that it has since faded. Valerie is aware of said rumor and that's why she's allowing herself to play around with the boss lady who doesn't stop her either. Upper back-lenght honey blonde hair,tan skin and green eyes. Usually seen in casual biker-style clothes.

Chikahiro/The gambler: Not a part of the organization nor does he work for any of the influential figures above. He's close to Tashiro since the banker always gives him money to allow him to keep gambling to his heart's desire, basically being Chikahiro's sugar daddy. He kind of knows Valerie too since they're both often at the Red Herring but they aren't close. he has sky blue hair with navy blue streaks styled in a masculine wolfcut and golden-hazel eyes. He's usually seen wearing casual clothes. He acknowledges that Shaiwase (Tashiro'ssecretary) definitely has a crush on Tashiro but since he's only just flirting with Tashiro, he's totally willing to let her have him most of the time as long as she let him suck up to him too.

The other characters are in the persona either because they don't have a decided look yet or are background characters.
