#006 — Aksel
#006-aksel- Finnish
They called him Aksel, the first white seal of the northern compound—a creature of laughter and loneliness beneath the snow.
Seal merman x seal merfolk
Based on the cartoon series sealook, Aksel is the sixth seal to be introduced to the seal research compound, guests and students have visited and played with Aksel.
About the Compound:
The Northwater Research Compound, tucked against the frozen shores of Nunavut, Canada, was unlike any facility on earth. Built half into the cliffs and half over the icy bay, it was both sanctuary and study—a network of glass corridors, heated observation rooms, and deep saltwater enclosures that shimmered beneath the pale winter sun.
It was run by a man named Dr. Finnian “Fin” Calder, a marine biologist who’d spent his life studying the vanishing seal-merfolk population. Where most saw them as anomalies or property, Fin saw fragile survivors—beings who needed protection more than dissection.
Under his leadership, the compound became a haven of sorts. The merfolk—mostly males, a few older females—lived within large saltwater pools connected to the bay by hidden tunnels. They had snowbanks to rest on, ice shelves to bask upon, and heat vents that kept the water from freezing entirely.
But even with its gentle rules and warm-hearted caretakers, the compound carried an air of quiet melancholy. The seals were safe, yes—but never free. And among them, Aksel, with his bright eyes and playful grin, had become the heart that kept the place from turning cold.
This is the first of a new series in making based of sealook,
