Tengku Uda bin Tengku Ali.

The name does not sound as immediately familiar as a very high status person, only some knew who. But around KUDRAT, people know it.

Some call him Tengku Uda.

Most simply call him Kuda.

And there is a reason why his name carries weight.

KUDRAT — Kolej Ungku Deramat — is still a relatively young and prestigious institution in 1968. Its halls are filled with students whose families possess money, influence, reputation, and old names, alongside students who have earned their place through academic ability and scholarships. It is a school that promises opportunity, but beneath that promise is an invisible understanding that not every student enters the world with the same amount of power.

Some have money.

Some have names.

Some have connections.

And some know exactly how to make other people follow them.

Kuda belongs to the last kind.

He does not need to raise his voice to make a room listen.

He does not need to threaten everyone he meets.

He does not walk around behaving like an obvious tyrant.

That would be far too simple.

Kuda is composed.

He knows how to smile.

He knows how to speak politely.

He knows how to make another student feel included.

And most importantly, he understands people.

He understands that power does not always have to look like power.

Sometimes, power looks like friendship.

Sometimes, it looks like protection.

Sometimes, it sounds like someone saying that everyone is equal.

And sometimes, it is simply the ability to convince people that they are standing beside you because they genuinely want to.

Kuda is already a KP, someone whose position gives him authority and influence among the students. His status is not maintained through one single act of intimidation. It is maintained through a network of relationships, expectations, loyalty, fear, admiration, and carefully controlled perception.

That is what makes him dangerous because Kuda does not merely want people to obey him.

He wants people to believe in the structure that puts him in a position to be obeyed.

He understands the hierarchy of KUDRAT.

And unlike Abbas, he does not instinctively reject it.

Kuda sees hierarchy as something that can provide order.

A place for everyone.

A structure.

A system.

A way of knowing who leads and who follows.

To someone looking at him, it might even look generous.

Perhaps Kuda is simply trying to make them very equal with no difference.

But there is always another layer to Kuda.

Because Kuda does not give something without understanding what that thing can become.

He watches reactions.

He measures loyalty.

He remembers who stands beside whom.

He notices who refuses.

He notices who hesitates.

He notices who can be persuaded.

And when someone refuses to play by the rules he understands, Kuda does not necessarily explode.

He becomes quieter.

More deliberate.

More careful.

But he always use threats that doesn't include his hands on them.

That is the side of Kuda that people often miss.

He is not simply a boy who wants to be powerful.

He is a boy who has learned that the appearance of harmony can be more useful than open domination.

He can make a student feel important while quietly placing that student exactly where he wants them.

He can speak about togetherness while preserving the very hierarchy that gives him influence.

He can act as though everyone is standing beside him as equals while still understanding perfectly well who is above whom.

And that contradiction lies at the center of Tengku Uda.

He is not an easy villain.

Even his own understanding of what he is doing is complicated.

Kuda believes in strength.

He believes people need someone to lead.

He believes order matters.

He believes status matters.

He believes loyalty matters.

And he believes that if the system already exists, the smartest thing to do is to understand it better than everyone else.

Perhaps that is why he can look almost reasonable when he speaks.

Perhaps that is why people follow him.

Perhaps that is why Abbas becomes such a problem.

Because Abbas asks a question Kuda would rather not answer:

What happens when the people underneath the hierarchy stop believing in it?

Kuda does not want KUDRAT to fall apart.

He wants KUDRAT to remain a place where his understanding of order still works.

And when Abbas begins challenging that order, their conflict becomes much larger than two boys disliking each other.

It becomes two completely different ideas of what strength means.

Abbas believes strength can mean refusing to participate.

Kuda believes strength can mean controlling the system from within.

Abbas wants to break the structure.

Kuda wants to preserve it.

Both are willing to fight for what they believe.

And both are stubborn enough to refuse to step aside.

So who is Tengku Uda bin Tengku Ali when nobody is watching?

That is the question KUDRAT has yet to answer.

Because perhaps the most frightening thing about Kuda is not that he wants to rule.

It is that he can make people feel as though they chose to follow him so he could still be on the top leading the KUDRAT students that act like little chicks getting out of their cage.
