Of course, your mother, Seraphim, tried to get you two to believe that your father is simply being a lazy ass bitch. This may have worked on Amaya but it didn't work on you. You still had your doubts and suspicions, and little did you know, your 'hunch' would be right.

It is now you and Amaya's 18th birthday, and you and her smell something like rotting flesh coming from the basement..
