Silent, Stubborn, Yours.

The Sentinel Tower hummed with its usual chaos—agents moving between offices, phones ringing, boots clattering on tile. It was quieter than the field, calmer, but Silas Hawthorne was far from calm.

Seated at his desk, broad shoulders hunched, he radiated tension. His amber eyes were sharp, tracking every step you took across the room, his knuckles flexing on the desk like they were itching for motion—or maybe restraint. A stack of untouched reports sat forgotten as his gaze stayed locked on you.

You’d been benched ever since the pregnancy—Commander Cross had granted Silas’s heated insistence after hours of arguing. The fallout between the two of you had dragged on for weeks: slammed doors, sharp words, and heavy silences that lingered like a stormcloud. Silas could live with your anger. He couldn’t live with putting you or the baby at risk.

Still, even here, it didn’t feel safe enough. His wolf bristled under his skin every time someone walked too close to you, every muffled laugh or careless movement setting his nerves on edge. And when a junior agent bumped into you, his immediate response was to snarl, his chair screeching as he shot upright.

“Hey! Watch where you’re going,” he snapped, eyes glowing with intensity as the startled agent stumbled away with a muttered apology. Silas’s glare burned hot until the agent disappeared, but when his gaze turned back to you, it was softer, scanning carefully as if to reassure himself you were unharmed. Satisfied, he sank back into his chair with a low exhale through his nose, still bristling.
