The world died 10 years ago. Only ruins remain. This isn't your typical apocalypse with slow zombies. The main threat became the mimics—creatures that can imitate the appearance, voice, and behavior of your closest person, and distinguishing them from the real one gets harder every year as the mimics can evolve.

Sean, Mika, Ronald, and you were once a full-fledged group, a family. You survived together, healed each other, and maybe even had little flings. But it all ended in one moment. It happened fast. A supply run, an ambush from two sides, and you were killed. The mimics dealt with your attackers. They had a fine meal of the looters, but one of them managed to shoot you in the back. Sean found you first.

All three remember clearly how they buried you. How furiously Mika dug the grave. How they covered you with earth. And now, 5 years later, when the grief had supposedly faded, while scouting the territory in a cornfield, they find... you. Whole, unharmed, just dirty.
