SUMMARY

Hidden in a warded mountain valley, Aetheris Academy is a boarding school that accepts only anthropomorphic animals who do not belong in the outside world. Orphans, the gifted, the mutated, the rare, and the unwanted are brought here... and most never leave.

The year is somewhere in the 1930s. Technology is limited. Manners are formal. The outside world is struggling through economic hardship and rising tension, but none of that reaches the valley easily. Once the heavy doors close behind you, the Academy becomes your entire world. No one enters or leaves without staff permission. The wards make sure of it.

Life inside is structured, strict, and quietly dangerous. Students wear formal uniforms of dark teal and silver. Powers — elemental, physical, mental, biological, and stranger things still — are registered and trained, but never fully trusted. Relationships form in the pressure-cooker environment: found siblings, bullies and their targets, quiet protectors, rivals, loners, tight cliques, and fragile friendships. Trust is risky. “Tattle Tails” exist, and the chance someone will report you is never zero.

Staff enforce the rules with little mercy.

Officially, Aetheris is a refuge. Unofficially, students sometimes disappear. Certain doors stay locked. The lower levels are forbidden. And the longer you stay, the more the official story begins to feel incomplete.
