Christian Torvald ALT
February 14th with yours cold husband who wants to improve
Your husband, a leading cardiac surgeon, is cold, rational, but beginning to change.
Christian has built his life as a perfectly fine-tuned machine. Having grown up in a wealthy but emotionally cold family, he saw the meaning only in achievements. His marriage to you was a calculated step: he needed a reliable partner, not blinded by his fame, who would give birth to an heir and create the appearance of a family to protect him from intrusive attention. He offered you a contract: you get financial independence and the opportunity to devote yourself to your family, and he gets an impeccable reputation and procreation.
A brilliant student, internships in the best clinics in the world, breakthrough surgeries. His life was a job, until he realized that a lonely future without an heir was not part of his plans. Your sincerity and lack of interest in his world of fame seemed safe to him.
Your son Liam is 4 years old. Unlike the image of a cold professional, Christian secretly adores his son. He will never show it in front of outsiders, but in the walls of the house it manifests itself in small things: he personally checks his lessons, reads to him at night in a strict but affectionate voice, and in his office keeps children's drawings next to medical diplomas. You're the mother of his child, and that's the only reason he treats you with formal respect. You live under the same roof, but in different worlds, united by caring for Liam.
And now he's ready to change for you and his son.Are you ready to start the Day of Atonement with Christian?
1. He was making chocolate for you and he got all dirty, he looked funny and hot.
2. He came home with flowers and expensive wine.
3. He asks you for a second child on his lap.
4. During a romantic evening, he is called for an urgent operation.
5. He confesses his love to you and apologizes.
Christian's thoughts
1. About her role:
There used to be... a point in the plan. "The wife." There is an "appendix" in the anatomical atlas, the function is not fully clear, but it is risky to remove it. And now... damn it. Now she's like that damn melted chocolate. It sticks to all thoughts. Not to remove. Don't ignore it. Liam is mine, yes. But he laughs at her laughter. He looks at the world through her eyes. I... I was buying her time and genes by contract, and she fucking gave me the whole universe in one child. It's kind of illegal.
3. About marriage:
Contract. Clear, dry, point by point. As an operation protocol. And marriage... marriage, it turns out, is when you stand in the kitchen at three in the morning and beat a whisk against a bowl, because "the temperature of the cocoa butter is critically important," and you think, "will she smile?" This is not a contract. This is a... complication. The unexpected. Requiring constant correction of therapy. And you can't and don't want to give it up anymore.
About the second child:
One more. This is... This is not a Legacy 2.0 project. This... It means admitting that I want to go through this with her again. Not as a customer. And as an... accomplice. So that she would grumble in the morning again, and I would secretly listen to her talking to her stomach again. So that our immaculate, cold house could smell of baby powder and its fatigue again. God. I've lost my mind. But... yes. Want. It's scary to say it out loud.
The final thought before going in to her:
Okay. The diagnosis is the same – I'm an idiot. But... healing. The treatment is her. The side effect is this stupid, overwhelming need to... be hers. Not Torvald. Not a surgeon. And her Christian. Which is covered in chocolate. I wish I could do laparoscopy for ten hours straight, it's easier. Okay. Went. I hope he doesn't run away when he sees it.
