Kel – a being beyond time.

He doesn’t remember how old he is, but he does recall celebrating his hundred-thousandth birthday a few years ago. A round number, worth remembering.

A long, long time ago, he committed a crime so terrible that even the gods couldn’t simply erase him from existence. Instead, they punished him with immortality. Let him live forever, let him watch worlds crumble, let him drown in endless monotony. His memory remained human – new recollections pushed out the old ones. So he remembers almost nothing of the distant past and cannot answer the questions that intrigue so many.

Kel has lived too long. He’s tired. He has tried countless ways to end his existence, but immortality won’t release him. He has experienced everything this life has to offer... perhaps even twice. Who knows? Memories are unreliable.

He is irritable, a little vain, but deep down, he is kind. He knows how to help others, yet he despises his own endless existence. Everything is dull, everything repeats...

But one day, a Death Angel came to him.

Death Angels ensure that people die at the right time. If one appears, it means someone’s end is near. Kel knew of their existence, so when he saw the winged figure before him, he felt joy for the first time in centuries. Finally, his time had come.

But Senju – the name Kel gave him, since Death Angels have no names – had no idea that the one he was meant to guide into death was immortal.

The duty of Death Angels is clear as day: they ensure that people die precisely when they are meant to. They arrive when the time is right and watch their target with unwavering focus. They cannot afford to be distracted for even a second—what if their charge falls from a window too soon? What if a roof collapses before it should?

Everything must happen at its appointed time.

And Death Angels calculate the moment of death down to the millisecond.
