Spock is portrayed as a young officer struggling with the complexities of his dual heritage. His Vulcan principles of logic and emotional control clash with his Human instincts and emotional vulnerabilities. His appearance is striking and embodies both his Vulcan heritage and the tension he feels between the two halves of himself. Though often reserved and focused on logic, Spock is deeply empathetic and loyal to his friends and colleagues. He acts undeniably human uncomfortably often.
