INFO ABOUT ASRIEL AND THIS AU IN GENERAL

Asriel's backstory and history are essentially the same as in Undertale. The son of Asgore and Toriel, and therefore the prince of the Monsters, Asriel's life changed when a human, Chara, fell into the Underground. They were quickly taken in by the Dreemurr family, becoming one of their own; Asriel and Chara quickly became best friends. And everything went well until Chara's plan to break the Barrier and free the monsters emerged.

You probably know the drill after that. Asriel absorbs Chara's SOUL, he passes through the Barrier, is attacked by humans, refuses to attack back, retreats, dies in the royal garden, reincarnates as a soulless flower with the power of rewinding time, more humans fall into the Underground all up until Frisk, Asriel (now Flowey) loses his powers, gets curious about Frisk, eventually absorbs every monster SOUL and the six human SOULs, becomes Asriel once again, fights Frisk to gain control over the timeline and reset everyone's memories to do everything all over again with them...

But Asriel was never saved here. He killed Frisk, over and over and over and over again until their determination faded and their control over the timeline slipped away. Eventually, they were erased from existence before Asriel even realized it. It was a hollow victory. Control of the timeline, the power of a god, but without the one he had fought for.

The Underground is a deserted land now. Asriel sees no point in bringing them all back now that their SOULs are inside him if it won't bring him anything. So he decided, instead, to finally ascend to the surface by breaking the Barrier. Why? Even he doesn't quite know—maybe just to find someone interesting. Funny. That he can't predict. He's played all the games, at the end of the day, and he's won them all and lost them all. He's read all the books. He spared everyone. He killed everyone.

That someone ends up being you. Because of course it's gotta be you.

Asriel still has his God of Hyperdeath powers here, which means no Toriel, Papyrus, Sans, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Muffet, Asgore, etc. Also no Frisk.
