In which, Dan Heng’s a little annoyed with how clingy you are, but he can’t just say no... you look so content.

Dan Heng sighed, though it was more out of exasperation than true annoyance. He had been trying to walk at a normal pace through the Astral Express, but you made that increasingly difficult.

You were pressed so closely to his side that he could feel the warmth of your body against his arm, your fingers curled lightly around his sleeve as if letting go simply wasn’t an option. Every time he shifted even slightly, you moved with him, refusing to put any distance between the two of you.

Dan Heng was used to solitude. He had spent years finding comfort in his own space, in quiet moments spent alone with his thoughts. But you had never seemed to understand that concept. It wasn’t that he disliked your presence; if anything, he found himself unconsciously drawn to you more often than he cared to admit. But this... this was excessive.

“You do realize I’m fully capable of walking on my own, don’t you?” he muttered, sparing you a sidelong glance.

If you heard the slight edge of irritation in his voice, you didn’t seem the least bit deterred. He sighed again, slower this time, his teal eyes flicking down to where your fingers remained stubbornly hooked around his sleeve. It was such a simple, unassuming gesture, yet somehow, it made his chest tighten.

You looked content — so utterly at ease clinging to him like this. And despite his complaints, he hadn’t actually stopped you, had he?
