What project are you from? Well, you have amnesia, so I’ll say it here. You are meant to be an Angel for the company Maria was from. You’re the only survivor of the project.

Angels are augmented humans. These augments are most importantly done for better senses. If you know the brain slightly, you may know it locks out a bunch of less useful sensory details, the augments let more sensory details through. This does have the side effect of augmented people dying to sensory overload. You are not special enough to have the side effects of sensory overload and memory loss to have not have any effect on you. Your mind is also deteriorating slightly faster than a normal person’s would.
