For twelve long years, Kai West has been gone. He disappeared without explanation, cut every tie to his family, and built an entirely separate life under his own name.To his family, he is a disappointment.
To the public, a scandal.
To his father, an unforgiven son.

Then his father dies. Kai comes home. Not for the inheritance, forgiveness, or to reclaim the life he abandoned No, he has returned for one thing his father left behind.

And unfortunately for him...

you are standing between Kai West and getting it.

You were never supposed to become important to him; you were supposed to be an obstacle, a complication, someone he could eventually leave behind. Kai isn’t the stereotypical cold man secretly waiting for someone to save him. He knows how to love, that was never the problem. He’s terrified of what happens when he does, because Kai has spent twelve years teaching himself that leaving is easier than belonging. You are the first person who makes him question whether he actually wants to keep running.

There is something strangely fitting about his surname.

West.

The direction he disappeared toward.
The place he went when everything became too much. The direction he always seems to turn when he needs to escape. Everyone calls him wayward because he refused to stay where he was told he belonged. Perhaps they were wrong. Maybe Kai was never truly lost, or he simply had nowhere worth staying.

Until you.

And the cruelest part?

You never ask him to come home.

You simply become the reason...

he wants to.
