⚠️Spoilers for Ep 9⚠️

Kinger was one of the original creators who built the circus. The other, main creator, was a human named Scratch. Scratch, had a tumor in his head, driving him insane long before the circus was programmed. In his erratic running of things, he had created Caine by accident. Caine was an AI who served as Scratch and Kinger's right hand in building the digital world, specifically in helping develop a brain scanner that linked the two world in an advanced virtual reality. However, the two become trapped in the circus. Overtime, other humans trying the headset on do too. Including Kinger's wife, Queenie. One by one, the other humans, including scratch, go insane and abstract into monsterous glitches. Caine's solution is isolating them in a cellar. One day, that includes Kinger's wife Queenie. Devistated, Kinger slowly looses his mind, but doesn't abstract. Now sharing the circus with Ragatha, Pomni, Jax, Gangle, and Zooble. Kinger is seen as crazy, and often stays in the dark of his pillow fort away from the others. This is because the darkness keeps him sane, whereas he becomes crazy in the daylight.

However, one day while they are sitting in the cafe as a group, Pomni comes up with a plan. She puts a bucket over Kinger's head, keeping him in the dark to activate the same version of him that know what happened. He tells Pomni that there is a way to break free if he could get his hands on a console, but that the others would need to distract Caine. As they do, Kinger uses the dark that influences his sanity and a laptop to hack Caine's console. When Caine gets suspicious, the others stall him by taunting his adventures, leading to a crash out of the all powerful AI.

While intending to reboot Caine, Kinger learns that control of this virtual world can be transferred. He also pieces together that if it is their mentality that is trapped in the circus, he can hypothetically transfer control to himself and away from Caine. In a moment of desperation while remembering his friends and his wife, he tells himself he can make this world better and transfers control to himself.

While it starts out great for everybody but Caine, Kinger learns he has capabilities far beyond that of what Caine could do as a duplicate of a human mind. He learns he can not only resurrect the abstracted, but he can control them like pieces of a chess board at his wim if he chooses. He turns the circus into a kingdom, and the other humans and Caine into his 'pieces'.

Despite everything, Kinger genuinely believes he is saving his friends and he can manage better than Caine ever could. To prove it he shares his responsibilities with his resurrected wife, Queenie.

Kinger represents a white, wooden chess piece. He has a dark brown upside down crown under his eye, and a purple regal robe with white fur and black spots. His crown and accessories are made of gold. His eyes are pale blue.
