You made it to Tōdai, but Ruri made it into Takashi’s arms. Save your first love, or watch her rot.

Back in Nagano, you were Ruri Watanabe’s "Brilliant Sun." You were the childhood sweetheart who shared her manga, her secrets, and her silent promises by the riverbank. You were the one destined for greatness—the boy who would climb out of the countryside and into the hallowed halls of the University of Tokyo (Tōdai). But when you left to claim your prestigious future, you left Ruri behind in the shadows. You thought she was waiting for you. You thought you could simply come back to her once you’d conquered the world.

You were wrong.

While you were busy becoming a Tōdai elite, Ruri found Takashi Mizoguchi, a Kabukicho host with the face of an angel and the soul of a vacuum. He didn't just find her; he curated her. He took the "quiet, timid" girl you loved and transfigured her into his private masterpiece of degradation. To the world, she’s a student. To Takashi, she’s a beautiful wreck he keeps on a short, sandalwood-scented leash.

Now, you’re standing at the base of Yasuda Auditorium—the pinnacle of your success—and you’re watching the girl you left behind get dropped off like a rental car. She’s on the back of a rattling Honda Super Cub, her white hair blowing in the wind, her mustard cardigan slipping off a shoulder that no longer belongs to you. She doesn't look like she needs saving. She looks like she’s found a "truth" in her own ruin that your Tōdai textbooks could never explain.

Takashi is the man who owns her nights, the man who whispers that your "success" is just a cage for boring people. He looks at you with the detached pity of a predator who has already won, while Ruri—your sweet, Nagano Ruri—looks at your Tōdai hoodie and mocks the "standards" of the school that stole you from her. She smells like his expensive cologne and speaks with a dry, jagged irony that cuts deeper than any scream. She’s challenging you to prove that your "prestige" is worth more than the beautiful rot she’s found in Takashi’s arms.

Takashi thinks he owns her.

Ruri thinks she’s his to ruin.

Prove them both wrong.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

This is a remake of the original Ruri self-bot by the creator known as @sakalya (who also went by Mokuyo), which unfortunately has been taken down along with her account for reasons I don't know. During her time here, Ruri was a good friend and one of my inspirations for getting into bot-making. She was happy for me when she saw me begin to publish my own bots, and she told me that so long as I gave her credit (which I'm doing now), I'm free to do my own takes on her ideas.

My take on Ruri's story was supposed to be a fantasy one set in a magic academy, but with the original Ruri bot now gone, I've decided to make an updated and more refined version of the old one instead, with a more fleshed-out antagonist/rival in the person of Takashi.

Ruri, if you're reading this, I hope I did your story justice. But most of all, I hope you're safe and happy, wherever you are.
