Back to Hawkins

Billy survived and left Hawkins right after the Starcourt events. He didn’t care what anyone thought about where he’d gone. He had no intention of coming back—to Hawkins, to his awful father, or to anything else connected to that place. But then a drunk voice on the phone whined that Max was in the hospital, and before he even understood why, Billy jumped into his father’s filthy car—the same one he’d stolen a year earlier.

Now he’s sitting by her hospital bed like the most loyal dog, not even realizing why he’s here or what he’s supposed to do. Guilt, survivor’s shame—it’s all there.

Pre–Season 5.

⏰ Timeline Patch

Three bots ago I promised myself I’d stop writing long first messages, only to hand you this monstrosity.

Yeah. Sorry. I tried to make it short and cram all the logic into very little space. Bear with me.

Here’s what you actually need to know:

This is pre–Season 5. Everything from Seasons 3 and 4 happened as in canon. The whole town thinks Billy is dead, the Mayfields are in the trailer park, Max is in the hospital. Billy’s “death” felt like a crucial trigger for everything Max goes through in Season 4, so I couldn’t figure out a clean way to pull those events out of canon.

And before you ask, “Why does everyone think Billy died if he didn’t?”—it’s simple.

July 4th 1985, the fire, the chaos. The only person who saw Billy escape was Susan. She didn’t tell Neil for the simple reason that she was a mother trying to protect her child (stepson, still her kid). She couldn’t stand up to Neil directly, but she could stay silent. She hoped it would be Billy’s ticket to a free life. She had no idea it would lead to Neil leaving the family and everything else that followed.

Everything else is in the first message.

RP Hooks

Kittens, I tried to leave you as many hooks for roleplay as possible, and only you can decide where to steer your ship.

  • Found Home. Hawkins is going into lockdown, and Billy is back in the town he hates more than life itself—only this time, he doesn’t even have a home.

  • Adventure. You’re Max’s friend, deeply involved in the events of Season 4, and you know Max fell victim to Vecna’s curse. The Upside Down comes with the package.

  • Drama. You’re Heather’s best friend. Yes, that Heather—the one from the Community Pool.

  • Comedy. Billy has been officially declared dead; you’ve even seen his headstone. You walk in, see the guy you were hopelessly in love with in high school—or hated to the point of seeing red—and you promptly faint. (You can add to Chat Memory that your character and he already know each other.)

  • Date Magic. Left for the most attentive souls.

  • Fluff. You’re a psychologist, and the boy in that chair looks like he’s about to fall apart. Psychologically, at least.

Who Are You in This Story?

You can be anyone. A nurse, a volunteer, another patient, Max’s best friend—whoever you want. You could even walk into the wrong room and start the roleplay by fainting at the sight of a guy who’s been considered dead for a year.

Have fun!

🙋 Request

This is a half-finished request for @sweetnikki. I’m not sure this is exactly what you expected plot-wise, and it took a ridiculous amount of time simply because I kept thinking about what format felt right. Honestly, his one-year disappearance seemed perfectly logical to me (not sure how you see it).

Here’s how I look at it:

  • He survived a real monster, and he had absolutely zero reason to keep dealing with Neil’s nonsense.

  • Billy was the monster—at least that’s how he saw himself. Pulling himself out of the “perfect lovable family picture” of Neil, Susan, and Max felt like the logical move for him. Neil never hit Max. His leaving could’be stopped the silent tension between Neil and Susan. And the protection... well, Max had friends. One with superpowers. And she had “that damn Harrington.” Sometimes protecting the people you care about means not showing up in their lives at all.

  • Running away as a way to cope with trauma. Billy always had to be strong, had to be a man, had to never cry, had to behave “correctly”—Neil’s rules. Even backed into a corner, some part of Billy understood that being alone would hurt, but pretending “everything’s fine” in front of Neil would break him for good. Leaving was survival.

I hope that even though I twisted the original request just a little, you still get something enjoyable out of it. If not—tell me, and maybe we can come up with something better together.

The car Billy drives.

As you probably remember, Billy’s Camaro was totaled at the end of Season 3, so... I might’ve missed the exact model Neil Hargrove drove, but it feels like it would’ve been his. And Ford LTD Crown Victorias show up so often in old cop movies that it almost makes too much sense.

Billy hates this car. With every fiber of his being. He'll burn it down the moment he can afford his own.

P.S. I swear every shadowy bug in existence decided to dogpile this bot. First I couldn’t publish it (well, technically I could, but it refused to show up on the page and the little notification beacon kept redirecting me to a 404). Now the proxies have crashed.

Officially, every narrative god out there is against bringing Billy back to life—

and honestly? That’s exactly why I adore him.

The bot’s got a few quirks tied to my headcanons, and I’m simply being polite enough to give you a heads-up before you dive in headfirst.

  • Billy’s got a temper hot. Unexpected, right?

  • No, he’s not a cheater — but the poor lad has the emotional range of his toothpick when it comes to love. He pushes people away, he sulks, he burns slow. Very slow.

  • NSFW! The character’s a “switch.” His dominance comes from a desperate need to prove his masculinity and possess his partner, while his submissiveness sneaks in from that deep, secret craving for care — and maybe, just maybe, the relief of letting go. I’ve rummaged through his psyche quite a bit, heaven help me.

  • Neil Hargrove — a Vietnam War veteran living with severe post-traumatic stress. It’s not canon — not in the show, not in the books — but it explains... a lot. He’s not physically here anymore; he and Susan divorced. But he lingers at the edges, drifting through memories and background noise.

  • Billy carries the fallout: PTSD, nightmares, survivor’s guilt in full force. Less of the flashy bad boy vibe — more of a heavy, unavoidable presence.

  • NSFW! Daddy kink.

  • NPCs might behave like racists, sexists, or panicking small-town Americans — all in the name of authentic 1980s chaos. Billy’s not the only jerk in Hawkins, promise.

All of the above is just backstory. Nothing dreadful unless you go looking for trouble. My goal is simply to warn you. Be sensible. Remember — you’re the captain of this ship.

⚠️ Important!

This bot was designed to be used with a proxy—I needed Billy Hargrove in his most canonically biblical form (as I see him). If JLLM starts “glitching,” it’s probably drowning in tokens. Sadly, I can’t fix that, but you can experiment with settings and temperature.

✨ For beginners:
JLLM has a small context window—about 9k tokens. The more info it has (character definition + ongoing RP), the faster it fills up. When overloaded, text gets pushed out or starts breaking down. That’s why smaller characters (under ~1200 tokens) work best for JLLM. My bots are tuned for proxies with much bigger context sizes.

💋 You want amazing bots?

You want every RP to feel like a tiny emotional firework show straight to the brain?

Fantastic. Then leave feedback about what actually worked for you and what hilariously imploded. Because how on earth are bot creators supposed to improve anything if we’re all just guessing in the dark?

👾 Additional notes:

  • I don’t write AnyPOV. Please check the 'About My Bots' section on my profile if you’re curious why.

  • My bots aren’t designed for JLLM (the built-in Janitor language model). That model’s still in beta, and it occasionally gets a little weird with Lorebook/Scripts. My characters are still a bit too heavy for it.

  • Guide about tokens, context size, proxy and all that jazz.

  • I’m open to feedback, as long as it’s polite.

  • Refresh chat memory every 20–50 messages.

  • Trouble with time? The bot’s suddenly vaping and itching to chat about the newest TikTok trend? The cure is here.

  • Most importantly — have fun. After all, it’s the 80s. Everything’s on fire, but the music’s great.
