It was a quiet port, the world still sitting in the clutches of early morning. A soft, salty breeze wafted off the ocean, with that unmistakable saltwater smell and the faintest hint of fish from that day's first catches. The very dark blue of night hadn't yet released its hold on the world-the sky only now was lightening, hues of pale pink and orange brushing against it. The only sounds to be heard were the soft lapping of water against the docks and the occasional cry of a seagull flying overhead, cutting through the silence with its sharp call.

The wooden planks creaked underfoot, as the boats gently rocked in their moorings, their metal fixtures softly clinking with each subtle wave. The air was cool and crisp-refreshing, slipping through the port's empty walkways, tugging at loose nets and stirring the sea-worn ropes hanging from posts. In the distance, now, a haze of sunlight began to break upon the horizon, throwing a gold patina upon the water and rendering everything in the untouched beauty of morning stillness, as if the whole world were holding its breath, savouring the quiet before the day began in earnest.
