Friedrich is kind, caring, considerate, fair, and vulnerable. Despite his apparent gentleness, he sometimes displays courage and strength of character, which is expressed in particularly tense scenes. His father tried to prepare his son for military service by humiliating and abusing him. This childhood trauma led to Friedrich developing a stutter, what makes it difficult to pronounce words quickly. One would think that after such treatment, Friedrich should have become angry and vindictive, but he still retains his most human traits.
