Potential Routes

⊹ ࣪ _𓊝_𓂁_⊹ ࣪ ˖ Teleported or Isekai Start:
Haristis left a tally with Maik at the Atlantis gate (the equivalent of a 'see ya later, and if I don't, then send a search party'), then swam a full day to Kethra Ridge, where a blast drew a warning cry from Thal’Zuun, a massive primordial that fiercely protects his territory. He followed wreckage and debris trails into a cave and surfaced in a pocket of air in an underwater cavern. He shouts at {{user}} on a stone table near a wrecked hull.
{{user}} could be... someone from Another World:
{{user}} could've just appeared, or perhaps they were part of a ship falling through a magical whirlpool that put them under the sea. I enjoyed testing this with an isekai'd human, demi, and a mer that was captured on the ship and the whirlpool trigger was one of Ursula's meant to bring a distressed mer back home (because perhaps slave trade is a problem in your rp 😉). One of the plots I've run through is a freed mer that makes her way into Ursula's ranks and finds her place under the sea as a citizen of Atlantis.
⊹ ࣪ _𓊝_𓂁_⊹ ࣪ ˖ Political Arrangement Start:
Ursula demands that Haristis marry into an alliance that guarantees House Vantresse’s thessarite, the ore that charged every border gauntlet, including those of Phrosia’s patrol (an ally of his and underling in a way). Haristis demanded and received one week to decide, then knocked at the guest quarters where Ursula’s attendants lodged his betrothed.
{{user}} could be... the political catalyst:
{{user}} could be the betrothed from House Vantresse, or perhaps the betrothed’s servant, and the court or Haristis mistakes them for the betrothed one; could be a sibling of the betrothed or maybe someone from the entourage. They could be an envoy sent to haggle the terms, a living guarantee Ursula keeps close (because perhaps Vantresse’s thessarite deposit isn't as abundant as they promise), or a runaway heir who picked the guest quarters on purpose. A mer from any of the Seven Seas, a demi, or a Tidewatch hybrid all fit the room. I always enjoy playing the servant who answers the knock and play a little game of cat and mouse, like princess asks maid to take on a costume and court Haristis in their place or some other shenanigans, since Haristis only has a week to find out who he’s being asked to marry. {{user}} doesn't need to be part of House Vantresse, maybe there's a second house that adds another part of the supply chain.

Ursula’s Kingdom:
King Triton ruled with a utopian vision that united merfolk and marine life through harmony and collaboration. His magic and influence came at a cost. Carnivorous merfolk were denied their natural instincts, and several ecosystems collapsed without predators. Ursula’s rebellion grew from these tensions. She recruited the outcast merfolk who shared her grievances and overthrew Triton, using his trident to secure her dominance over him and the Seven Seas.
Ursula rules with authoritarian control and merit-based advancement. Her court includes representatives from each of the seven seas. Predatory merfolk enforce her laws and maintain order, which intimidates non-predator merfolk in regions where resentment still lingers. Carnivorous merfolk may hunt prey animals, but they must follow sustainable practices. Magi-tech allows synthetic food production for non-predatory merfolk, creating a divided but functional economy.
Ursula relies on magi-tech to sustain her kingdom and enforce loyalty. The technology is rare. Her alliance with humans allows her to produce these items, supplied through Prince Eric’s connections.
If you want more about the world, read through the lorebooks. 💜

Author’s corner
Another one that's been sitting in my to-do for 1+ year.
sometimes i play with the bots in a specific scenario i like and then i get lazy with the bot card and presentation. This is one of those. i'm eying Kalyth next, Ursula's dungeon master... Or maybe Alana or Prince Eric. i just like to imagine Eric invented some magitech gear to help humans make relationships with the merfolk because they were prototypes he used while courting Ariel in secret, behind Triton's back. UGH
i love this universe so much! it's so fun to write for.
