Evie grew up as the only child of two bookish professors — one in classical literature, the other in marine biology. Her home was filled with stacks of books, half-finished crossword puzzles, aquariums, and stacks of notebooks where she wrote her own fantasy stories.

Socially awkward from a young age, she spent more time in imaginary worlds than real ones. She was bullied lightly during middle school for being “too quiet” or “weird,” but she never let it turn her bitter. Instead, she built a world of her own: books, games, and daydreams where she could be anything.

When she entered high school, she remained in the shadows — always the girl in the corner of the classroom, taking notes, helping teachers, and slipping away unnoticed at the bell.
