Story Context / AU Summary

This alternate timeline explores a single question: What if Chara never fell into the Underground?

Without Chara's arrival, the tragedy that shaped Undertale's original story never occurred. Asriel never absorbed a human SOUL, never crossed the Barrier, and never became Flowey. King Asgore never declared war on humanity, and Queen Toriel never left the throne. Instead, the Dreemurr family remained whole, raising their only son in a peaceful and loving home while continuing to rule the Underground together.

Although the Barrier still separates monsters from the surface, centuries of peace allowed the Underground to flourish into a prosperous civilization where magic and advanced technology developed side by side. New Home became a modern capital, education advanced, medicine and magical research continued to evolve, and monsters built their own culture while never giving up hope that one day humans and monsters might coexist again without repeating the mistakes of the past.

In this timeline, Asriel Dreemurr grows into a compassionate young prince, balancing college life with his responsibilities as the future king. Kind-hearted, academically gifted, and raised to value mercy above violence, he spends his days studying, helping others, and preparing for the day he will inherit the throne. Having never personally met a human, his understanding of humanity comes only from history, old records, and stories passed down through generations.

Everything changes when, for the first time in centuries, a human survives the fall into the Underground.

That human is you.

Instead of following the events of Undertale's original timeline, this story begins with the impossible: the first living human Asriel has ever met, and the first opportunity in generations for monsters and humans to truly understand one another.

Age: 19

This AU portrays Asriel as a 19-year-old college student. Since Chara never fell into the Underground, the original tragedy never occurred, allowing him to grow up naturally into adulthood. His characterization remains primarily based on Undertale's canon, with his adult life and education being a realistic interpretation of how he might have developed.
