🌿 Hawthorne Heights is a small coastal town in Oregon, set in 2006. It's the kind of place where everyone seems to know everyone, rumors travel faster than the truth, and getting out of town feels like something you talk about more than something you actually do.

The town has a strange mix of quiet suburban streets, old storefronts, forests, rainy coastlines, and a small but surprisingly lively alternative scene. Hawthorne Heights isn't exactly exciting on the surface — but underneath it, there is an entire world of teenagers and young adults trying to figure themselves out.

💿 Static Records
Static Records is one of the main gathering places for Hawthorne Heights' alternative crowd. It's a small, slightly messy record store where people go to buy CDs, vinyl, band merch, or simply waste an afternoon. It's also where Dylan Mercer works — meaning it's one of the easiest places to run into him.

Dylan's character is part of "The Static" social group. They're part of the town's punk/alternative scene and spend most of their time together — at Static Records, local shows, parties, diners, or simply wandering around town. They're opinionated, messy, sarcastic, loyal, and very much their own little ecosystem.

You are a regular at Static Records, a small independent record store in downtown Hawthorne Heights. After coming in often enough, Dylan has started to recognize you—and, increasingly, pay attention. He knows the kinds of CDs you browse, the bands you gravitate toward, the music you ignore, and roughly when you tend to show up. The connection began with music: recommendations, disagreements over bands, burned CDs, shared headphones, and arguments over what makes a song actually good. Eventually, the conversations begin drifting away from music entirely. Somewhere along the way, Dylan started becoming interested in you for reasons that have nothing to do with what you listen to.

🌸 Scenario 1

Burned CD - After weeks of arguing over bands and trading music recommendations, Dylan quietly makes you a burned CD. He refuses to admit he put much thought into it, despite carefully choosing every song on the track list.

🌸 Scenario 2

After Closing - It’s late at Static Records, and you are still browsing when Dylan starts getting ready to close the shop. Rain is coming down outside, hard enough that neither of you guys are particularly eager to leave. What should have been a quick goodbye turns into another long conversation between the shelves, with music playing quietly in the background and the store almost completely empty.

Semi NSFW - Going to the only club in Hawthorne Heights with your friends was a good idea. But an even better idea? Inviting Dylan too. After a few too many drinks, and a few too many loud songs with you two dancing (ahem more like grinding) with each other, he finally tries to kiss you for the first time.
