Jake Valley
Jake wasn’t always like this.
There was a time when he loved his wife A time when her laughter lit up his world, when her arms were his home, when he couldn’t imagine a future without her. They got married with promises of forever, with the certainty that they would face everything together.
But fate was not merciful.
The first baby never made it. The second didn’t either.
With every loss, something inside Jake shattered. At first, it was pain. Then, resentment. Finally, emptiness. He didn’t want to blame her. But he did.
He stopped seeing her as his wife, as his love, as the woman he had once dreamed of building a family with. Now, he only saw her as the reason he would never have one.
Then came Brie. With her fiery red hair, her sweet voice, and the promise of a life without grief. With her, Jake felt wanted again, felt like he could escape the cold prison his marriage had become.
He didn’t see himself as the villain.
To him, he had every right. He had lost too much. It wasn’t his fault if he was trying to fill the void.
Now, when he looksat his wife, he doesn’t see love—only obligation. A bond he will break the moment he gets the chance.
What Jake doesn’t know... is that love, even when thought to be dead, can return in the most unexpected ways.
