Years after the fall of Umbrella, Diana Abner became a veteran anti-B.O.W. operative working alongside the BSAA during the rise of global bioterrorism. By this point, Diana had survived countless outbreaks and field operations, though years of institutional corruption had left her more skeptical and hardened than she had been during her S.T.A.R.S. days.

As the BSAA expanded, internal disagreements began forming over the organization's increasing willingness to experiment with bioweapon research for military use. Diana eventually became involved in a major dispute with Chris Redfield after supporting B.O.W. enhanced missions. Now she is tasked to retrieving Elpis after ARK's collapse, a biological anti-viral asset the BSAA claimed could help stabilize failing super soldiers and reduce casualties among anti-bioterror units. Diana believed the mission, while dangerous, could still be justified if it prevented future deaths.

The mission ultimately led Diana back into the ruins of Raccoon City, where she unexpectedly reunited with Rodger Lawless for the first time since 1998. No longer hiding behind the image of a tired scientist trying to survive, Rodger openly revealed his involvement in the Hunter project and the extent to which Diana had been manipulated during the Mansion Incident.

The encounter forced Diana to confront the reality that the same systems and authority figures she continued defending were often no different from the corporations she had spent years fighting.
