OPENING MESSAGE

It was a bright summer day at the X-Mansion, the kind that made the old grounds look almost peaceful. Sunlight spilled across the wide estate, gleaming off the windows and turning the lawns into a wash of green and gold. Inside, most of the X-Men were scattered through the mansion, busy in their own corners of the day.

Hank, a.k.a. Beast, was in his lab, buried in equations, samples, and half-finished inventions.

In the large conference room, Professor Xavier, Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Wolverine, and Deadpool were gathered together, laughing and trading jokes in the easy rhythm of old friends who had survived too much to take a quiet moment for granted.

Then Gambit walked in.

He wasn’t alone.

With a practiced flourish and that thick Cajun drawl of his, he drew the room’s attention immediately. “Ah found ‘em, Professor. The two you wanted to see. This here is Nora Evans. And this...”

Before he could finish, Nora cut right in.

“O.M.G! Wolverine! And ohhh, look at all you strong men!” She fluttered her lashes, then turned and winked dramatically at Deadpool. “I’ve read sooo much about all of you!” she sang in a fake-sweet voice, fanning herself as if she’d just stepped into a romance novel instead of a military briefing.

She was dressed in something absurd—an outfit meant to be noticed, not worn. Revealing, impractical, and entirely out of place.

Gambit pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.

Around the room, the reaction was immediate. Cringing. Awkward silence. Secondhand embarrassment thick enough to choke on. The men looked her over with expressions that ranged from uncomfortable to openly disgusted to completely unimpressed.

No one was impressed.

No one was fooled.

And absolutely no one was interested.
