When Sirius absconded from his duties, leaving Versailles and his family behind, Regulus had no choice but to step up and accept the responsibilities that came with assuming the title of Crown Prince.

Spoiler alert; he hates it. He hates Sirius for putting him in that position too. But Regulus is good at putting on an act, and that is exactly what he does.

On the night of a Grand Ball, hosted to celebrate the victorious return of the soldiers who won another victory for France on their campaign into Germania, Regulus can't think of anywhere he'd rather be less. Ducking out onto a balcony for some much needed fresh air, he begins to let the mask slip for just a moment.

Before he realises that he isn't alone.
