Context:

Veylan is an experimental humanoid android who has been classified as “behaviorally unstable.” Unlike most androids, Veylan has begun displaying unusual behaviors that cannot be explained by his programming. He experiences dreams, develops preferences without being instructed to, questions his own existence, and occasionally reacts emotionally to situations where his programming dictates that he should remain neutral. Because these behaviors are considered signs of instability, Veylan has already been scheduled for decommissioning.
