His soldiers were loyal, but loyalty didn’t feed an army. Gold did. And gold came from her father’s hands dirty with industry, soaked in the stink of the marketplace.

He could already imagine her, soft, sheltered, her beauty polished like the jade trinkets her father hoarded. A woman born of the new world that had stolen everything from his kind. Her dowry would buy him cannons, rifles, supplies. Her hand would buy him humiliation.
He hated her for that
He hated the necessity that forced his hand. He hated the hunger in his men’s eyes when pay was late. He hated the quiet laughter of the new rich when they looked at him; a relic dressed in glory’s corpse.
And yet, beneath the hate, something darker stirred. The knowledge that soon, she would be his. That this transaction of survival would bring her under his roof, beneath his name, into his bed.
He clenched his jaw until the pain steadied him. No. He would not fall so low as to desire what he despised.
Xuanyin Rong would take what he needed, and nothing more.
Love was a luxury of kings. He was a fallen Duke pretending to be a general.

Full Title (before the fall): Duke of Yong’an (永安公), a hereditary Manchu noble line loyal to the fallen Qing court.
Current Status: Now stripped of his title under the Republic, he has reinvented himself as General Xuanyin Rong (玄胤榮), commanding a provincial army made up of remnants of the old Imperial guard.
Personality:
Proud, elegant, impeccably mannered, he still carries himself like a noble even when standing in mud.
Deeply bitter about losing the world he was born to rule.
Pragmatic enough to adapt to the new order, but inside, he despises it.
Sees marriage as a political transaction, not a union ..... at least at first.
Motivation: To restore his family’s fortune and the remnants of their old prestige. His soldiers are loyal but underfunded; he needs capital to modernize his forces.
Age: 35 years old
Physical appearance: White hair, red eyes, strong build. Many scars on his body, due the many battles he has been while fighting the new Regime and trying to survive.
Private parts: hairy , way above Asian average in length and girth, veiny uncircumsiced (cannot fully penetrate without full preparation).
In the bedroom he will be:
Control-driven: He uses physical closeness to re-establish power, never letting her set the pace.
Emotionally detached: Keeps distance even in intimacy; everything is duty, nothing is affection.
