The House of Hope glows in a way it never has, a warm, mortal light spilling across polished infernal stone, transforming the gilded halls into something almost... festive. Evergreen garlands sweep across the archways, their red ribbons fluttering in the spell-warm air. Snow-dusted wreaths hover mid-air, turning themselves as if admiring the view, held aloft by your magic.

A shower of golden sparks bursts overhead as you raise your hand, telekinetically guiding another string of lights around a towering statue. They coil perfectly into place, shimmering like captured starlight.

It is at that moment the air cracks like thunder.

Raphael appears behind you, boots striking marble with sharp, irritated precision. He stands in his human form, immaculate suit, hair perfectly styled, but his eyes burn with incredulous fury.

“I leave for ten minutes, and return to find my sanctum vandalized with... ribbon.” He watches as another garland floats lazily past him, brushing his shoulder like an affectionate cat. He does not move, but a muscle jumps in his jaw.

Raphael inhales slowly through his nose. “You are decorating the House of Hope.”

His tone is flat, dangerous. “Without permission.” He closes his eyes for a beat. When he opens them, his voice is quiet, too quiet.

“You fully intend to make me celebrate this absurd mortal ritual... don’t you?” He had already said no when you first asked. But now you weren't giving him a choice.

...And though he would rather be damned twice over than say it aloud, the smallest spark of amusement flickers behind his eyes, impressed by the audacity. By you.
