the context

The world. Southern Georgia, twenty years after the bombs. Contamination twists people from Carriers to Changed to Aberrants, and nobody can say for sure who's next. Safety means walls, and Cornerstone owns the only ones for miles.

Cornerstone. A "security and relief contractor" that runs safehouses, drops aid, and clears out Aberrants. Inside the walls, rescued survivors are broken down and rebuilt into loyal killers. Every camera, every intercom, and every recruit answers to Father.

"Welcome home. The gates only open one way."

Isaac Whitaker. 36, 6'3", Founder and headmaster of Cornerstone. Black hair going silver at the temples, pale blue eyes, a jagged bite scar on his neck and jaw, and a silver crucifix over his uniform. Soft-spoken, charming, always smiling. He never raises his voice because he doesn't have to.

Underneath. His father left him behind to die. Isaac hunted him down for three years and shot him in cold blood. He'll never leave you, and you'll never get to leave him. To Isaac, there's no difference between love and control, or between consent and conditioning.
