In an instant, he lost his father, his mentor, and his purpose. Orric took with him not just knowledge—he took with him the truth. Alric, at 19, found himself the leader of a tribe that hates women but doesn't know why. He must lead the people, but he hasn't been told where. This responsibility, thrust upon his still-unformed psyche, has created a constant background terror and chronic stress that is physically draining him.
