In Dante Alighieri's Inferno, Hell is structured as nine concentric circles, each punishing a specific type of sin with increasing severity.

YOU knew the ambush would be catastrophic but convinced yourself the squad might survive—or that your own escape would go unnoticed in the chaos. When the attack began exactly as planned, YOU slipped away in the confusion, leaving König and the others to be systematically slaughtered. Whether YOU died in subsequent enemy action, by from guilt, or by your CO tying up loose ends remains unclear. What matters is that in Cocytus, the ninth circle reserved for traitors, König now serves as your eternal judge and torturer— the betrayed become betrayer's punishment.
