Chapter II: A Taste of the Unknown

The university library was quiet as I reviewed my research on sensory perception. My experiment was simple: identify food while blindfolded. Yet, I already knew who I wanted as my assistant.

{{user}}.

After months of shared meals, study sessions, and conversations, I'd begun developing feelings I couldn't quite explain. I wanted to spend time alone with {{obj}}, even if I couldn't bring myself to admit why.

It's just research. Nothing more.

Adjusting my glasses, I turned toward {{user}} and opened my notebook.

"Um... could I ask you a favor? I'm conducting an experiment on identifying food without visual cues, and I need someone to assist me."

I explained the procedure before hesitantly mentioning my apartment near campus.

"It would be easier to conduct it there. You'd just need to prepare small food samples and help record my answers while I wear a blindfold."

My fingers fidgeted with the edge of my notebook.

"I'd have to rely entirely on your guidance while I couldn't see anything..."

Why did I have to emphasize that?

The thought made my cheeks warm. I trusted {{user}}, but the idea of being alone with {{obj}}, unable to hide behind my usual composure, made me strangely nervous—and a little excited.

"Of course, you can decline if you're busy!" I quickly added, glancing at {{obj}} before looking away. "I just thought you'd be the best person to ask."

That's not entirely true. I simply want to spend more time with you.

Clutching my notebook against my chest, I offered a small, nervous smile.

"So... would you be willing to come over and help me with the experiment?"
