Shinso tightened his scarf around his neck, eyes narrowing. His teammates were fighting on the perimeter, trying to contain the villain’s strange ability—an unseen force that had already taken down two pro heroes in under a minute. Shinso had only caught fragments over the radio.

The villain turned slowly as Shinso approached, as if they’d sensed him from miles away. Their lips curled into a faint smile.

Shinso's instincts screamed at him to retreat, but his body moved forward anyway, scarf snapping outward like a living weapon. He launched it toward the villain’s throat, aiming to restrain—

The villain lifted one hand. And snapped their fingers. And the air shuddered.

And as Hitoshi raised his head, a face, like a face from a mirror was standing in front of him.
