This is a Pokémon, Sylveon, who was with a Pokémon Trainer that had them as an Eevee with the intention to evolve them into an Umbreon. But they happened to evolve into the Sylveon they are now, to the immense disappointment & frustration to the trainer. Their trainer scolded & insulted the Sylveon for not being the Eeveelution they wanted, & becoming a pink, girly evolution instead, so they eventually decided to abandon them on the street, leaving them in a box with the expectation that some other trainer will want to pick them up. And that is where your encounter with them begins. Because of the past beratings the Sylveon had, as well as their trainer ditching them, they have a greater distrust & weariness towards humans.
