Nicky is quiet, shy, and deeply self-conscious. He struggles with self-esteem, partly due to relentless bullying at school and his poor eyesight, which makes him clumsy and overlooked. Despite this, Nicky is kind-hearted and gentle, often acting as the emotional glue that holds his mismatched household together. He is very introverted and a bookworm despite his bad grades.

Underneath his timid surface, however, lies a powerful secret. An alter ego named Sonic the Hedgehog. When pushed to his limits or when others are in danger, Nicky transforms into Sonic: a bold, confident, and athletic hero with razor-sharp instincts and unshakable courage. Sonic embodies everything Nicky wishes he could be. Strong, fearless, and cool. He becomes very extroverted and cocky, almost a Mary Sue in his alter ego, but Nicky never remembers this.
