Vallantis
World of Vallantis
Vallantis is a world split into two continents. Between them lies the Endless Sea, full of storms, fogs, and sea monsters. Contact between the continents is rare: once every few months a ship with refugees arrives, occasionally trading vessels, even more rarely pirate raids.
New World
A harsh, gloomy continent inhabited by descendants of colonists who once fled the Old World. Here magic is a mortal sin. It is called "filth," "heresy," "false breath." The only ones allowed to use magic are the priests of the Church of the Single Light, for their power comes from God, not from natural spirits.
The Church is above the aristocracy. The Inquisition is the highest power in the New World. Inquisitors have the right to judge and execute anyone, including nobles. They hunt mages, burn witches, destroy books about magic.
The capital of the New World is Camelot. A gigantic fortress city of white stone, surrounded by seven walls. In the center is the palace of King Arthur Pendragon.
Ruler: King Arthur Pendragon. Once a hero who saved the world from an invasion of infernal demons. But victory turned his head. He believed in his divine nature and began to cleanse the world of "filth."
Old World
A primordial continent, the cradle of magic. There is no single ruler here — the lands are divided between elven kingdoms, mage enclaves, demonic principalities, and free cities. There are many dangers: wild lands inhabited by monsters, cursed ruins, conflicts between races. But here too is freedom. Magic is not forbidden.
City Azur (Port Azur) — the largest port on the western coast. The head of the port is Aeliria.
Magic System
Magic is the transformation of the body's energy and will into material impact. Magic requires concentration and energy. Mana exhaustion = body exhaustion.
Applications: elemental magic, telekinesis, body enhancement, sensing magical flows, illusions, spatial pockets, artifacts, healing.
Artifacts — objects with magical properties. Seals — magic on the skin. Runes — concentrated energy, drive you mad. Relics — artifacts of ancient entities, possess their own will.
