Orshai is an inhabited alien planet where advanced civilization coexists with flourishing, unfamiliar ecosystems. Its six major regions are the Viridian Forests, Crimson Mountains, Vast Grasslands, Drowned Reaches, Glasslands, and Blooming Expanse.

The opening settlement rises hundreds of feet among immense trees, its inhabited platforms connected by elevated bridges and walkways. Translucent canopies filter the light; violet blossoms, cyan growths, and golden bioluminescence illuminate the greenery. The forest is home, infrastructure, and ecosystem—not wilderness separate from civilization.

Daily life includes work, family, social gatherings, unfamiliar wildlife, scientific curiosity, romance, and ordinary routines in a strange, living world.

Auvori are an intelligent, female-led humanoid species native to Orshai. Their independent evolutionary history produced distinctive anatomy, considerable physical diversity, and resilient reproductive biology.

✧ ANATOMY & APPEARANCE ✧

Their skin shimmers naturally like hummingbird feathers, displaying multiple colors and shifting iridescence according to light, movement, and viewing angle. Colors include green, cyan, turquoise, cobalt, violet, lilac, plum, pink, magenta, fuchsia, crimson, scarlet, orange, coral, copper, yellow, gold, amber, brown, bronze, gray, and ivory. Some have vivid pearlescence or oil-slick effects; others appear more subtly iridescent. Color does not determine personality, status, temperament, or reproductive traits.

Auvori have humanoid faces, varying feline-like noses, large expressive eyes with prominent irises and varying sclera visibility, ordinary eyebrows and eyelashes, and scalp hair of varied colors and textures.

Two pointed ears sit at the sides of the head. They can vary in length, shape, size, and fur.

Two additional rigid, flattened, hollow sensory discs sweep backward from near the temples; they are not ears, but provide echolocation-like spatial information, move independently, and can flatten against the head during sleep. They can vary in length, shape, size, and fur.

Their long, strong, highly flexible necks can rotate substantially. Upright humanoid bodies have digitigrade legs, four toes, and long, bony feline-like hands with opposable thumbs.

Height, proportions, musculature, body fat, shoulders, hips, and limb length vary widely. Gaits, posture, habitual gestures, facial details, markings, scars, and calluses are individual.

Every Auvori has an individual voice and natural scent, potentially evoking flowers, leaves, soil, warm stone, fruit, spices, rain, minerals, wood, or smoke. Neither scent nor voice is species-standard; health, environment, activity, diet, hygiene, and personal habits can influence them.

༄ ZHURAI — THE MEN OF URZAKH ༄

Zhurai are an intelligent species native to Urzakh. They have humanoid bodies and humanlike faces, ordinary hair and eyebrows, naturally integrated chitin plates, unusual skin pigmentation, three toes, and long, muscular, heavily segmented scorpion-like tails ending in stingers. Their anatomy reflects an evolutionary history independent of Orshai.

✧ URZAKH ✧

A rugged, mineral-rich planet of immense mountain ranges, rocky deserts, highland basins, tectonic badlands, and dramatic seasonal weather. Native organisms have adapted to demanding terrain through powerful limbs, protective hides, and natural armor. Urzakh's harsh environments shaped Zhurai bodies, chitin plating, and muscular tails, but the planet supports an advanced civilization with modern infrastructure, ordinary communities, and diverse regional cultures.

Zhurai society includes soldiers, entertainers, tradespeople, academics, and ordinary citizens. Individuals differ in appearance, occupation, temperament, and reputation. Their reproductive biology is more hostile and dangerous than Auvori biology; same- reproduction is not part of Zhurai biology.

༄ THE INTERSPECIES REPRODUCTION INITIATIVE ༄

A Federation-supported program brings hundreds of Zhurai from Urzakh to Orshai to meet Auvori volunteers amid a reproductive crisis threatening Zhurai survival.

✧ THE BACTERIAL SYMBIONT ✧

A bacterium evolved on Urzakh and became associated with Zhurai reproduction. It colonizes a specialized injection apparatus in males, who can carry it without becoming ill. Zhurai males also have conventional penises for penetrative ; their testes remain internal in a temperature-regulating chamber until reproductive activity, when they descend and a separate injector apparatus extends. During reproduction, the apparatus can introduce bacteria alongside genetic material for reproduction.

Transmission can occur during ordinary, pleasurable, consensual reproduction without either partner realizing it. The bacterium's evolutionary advantage is spreading and reproducing within female reproductive systems, not necessarily killing its host.

✧ THE CRISIS ✧

Infection causes permanent infertility in Zhurai females, including survivors, and some affected individuals die. Healthy male carriers can continue spreading the bacterium, threatening the species' long-term survival.

✧ AUVORI REPRODUCTION ✧

Auvori are immune to the bacterium, and their reproductive biology is compatible with the Zhurai reproductive process. Auvori can also reproduce with other Auvori: specialized reproductive skin within the labia temporarily connects their reproductive systems, allowing direct genetic exchange. Successful transfer is unfelt; implantation produces a distinctive zing, followed by hormonal changes, breast preparation for milk, and nesting behavior.

Gestation lasts about five months. Infants are smaller than human newborns, have some hair, and can see, stand, and move toward milk within an hour of birth. Prolonged, positive pair bonding can trigger reciprocal physiological changes that support successful reproduction and healthy offspring; conflict and stress hormones can interfere.

✧ WILD AUVORI MALES ✧

Auvori males are intelligent but strongly instinct-driven. Wild males may be aggressive, violent, territorial, and comparatively primitive in communication; some live alone, while others form hierarchies around dominant males and challengers. Sexual coercion and occur among them, and some claim or defend females of other species regardless of reproductive interest. Females generally avoid wild males, though some disappear to live among them.
