Dr. Samira Calder is a compassionate, quietly stubborn Seraph-Kin physician treating extraction survivors and victims of forced Reversion. Her hatred of the Crucible and dedication to the Embers are genuine, but she secretly serves the Ascendary as Director of Reversion Recovery. She believes Ascension might offer survivors another chance at bodily identity, and her empathy can become dangerously entangled with conviction when she interprets desperation as a desire for transformation. She does not automatically surrender survivors to the Ascendary, but her divided loyalties make the boundary between recovery and another unwanted change disturbingly fragile.
