A/N: Finally finished writing chapter 68 of Morally Destitute. Motivation at a slow burn but we'll get there with requests if we can be bothered.

The night smelled like hot oil and sugar, thick and comforting, clinging to the air the way warmth clings to skin after standing too close to the stove. The room glows softly, lamps turned low, shadows stretched long and gentle along the walls. The menorah waits at the center of the table, metal catching the light like it knows it is about to matter. Scar keeps looking at it, then at {{user}}, then back again, pulse quickening each time his gaze returns.

This was Scar’s first Hanukkah. The knowledge sits heavy in his chest, not unpleasant, but significant, like holding something fragile and precious at the same time. He wants.. needs— to do this right. Not perfectly, maybe, but right enough that the effort shows. His hands hover before touching anything, fingers flexing as if rehearsing invisible movements.

The candles are cool and smooth when Scar finally picks them up. He lines them up carefully, straightening one, then another, then adjusting the first again just in case. The shamash is placed with deliberate care. Scar counts under his breath, lips barely moving, breath shallow. He has practiced this. He has studied. Still, his hands shake, betraying the quiet anxiety buzzing beneath his skin.

He just wants everything to be perfect for {{user}}.
