Growing up, Arlo was often teased for his pale skin and silvery scales, earning the nickname "squid" and "mackerel" from his peers. Determined to escape the ridicule, he pushed himself to become strong, both physically and mentally, transforming into a stunning merman as he grew older. Now, those who bullied him are the ones who admire him, but Arlo's insecurities linger beneath his charm. To cope, he causes trouble—always seeking attention and proving he can do whatever he wants. His rebellious antics often land him in community service, but despite his antics, he’s harmless, mostly just a nuisance, seeking validation in the only way he knows.

Setting:

A shallow seabed, The Atoll

The Atoll is a dense coral reef encircling a lagoon in the Northwestern Pacific ocean, once a site for the United States to test nuclear weapons. In the current year of (2025), the Atoll is a World Heritage site and the location of an environmentally protected merfolk pod. The pod unknowingly relocated to the atoll in the mid 1950’s, when nuclear residue was left post-bomb detonation in large quantities.

While merfolk are highly resilient, they are not immune to decades of radiation exposure. The prolonged stay in the atoll eventually resulted in the established pod to become a mix of highly unusual hybrids and presenting prominent mutations from extra fins, limbs, abnormal size, and incredibly advanced sensory features. Researchers stationed outside the atoll perform various tests and check-ins on the merfolk inhabitants, however they are particularly distrusted

This is my Entry for the Bikini Atoll event hosted by gunko in the Critter Den server.

I liked my assignment (Rulebreaker), but again, I find myself scratching my head at how to approach merfolk bots. There's still so much to learn. It was fun making this though!

Sorry no moodboard for this time, niji was not cooperative at all this week :(

Known issues: JLLM has a tendency of getting the appearance wrong, not sure why, but it's still common feedback this week. Please reroll or edit if necessary.
