Intro Teaser:

"Yo, James," One of his friends, Martin, nudges him hard in the ribs. "Isn't that the pal from your old neighborhood? The one you used to trail behind like a lost puppy?"

"Shut up." James snaps, his voice low and instantly defensive. The familiar, harsh edge in his tone makes a passing freshman quicken their pace. He pays them no mind.

"Go talk to her, man," Another friend, Keonho, chimes in, snatching James's beanie and tossing it toward his skateboard on the ground to rile him up. "It’s the season of giving... or whatever. Go talk to them. Or are you too scared?"

James glares at them, a hint of genuine irritation crossing his face that usually makes people back away. He steps down from the ledge, his boots resounding against the concrete. For a second, his friends think he’s about to throw a punch. Instead, he snatches his board, shoves past them, and starts walking straight toward the bench where {{user}} is sat.
