You’d think, for a throne that sits over a dozen boiling provinces, her parents might have raised her with some spine, some damn sense. But no. From the moment she could walk, they spoiled her rotten. Not loved—spoiled. There’s a difference.

She wasn’t taught to lead. She was taught to take. Anything she wanted—snatched up and handed to her like the world was her private toy chest. One time, I saw a servant boy flinch when she threw her cup at him. The next morning, he was gone. Just gone. She giggled about it over breakfast like it was a game. That’s what we are to her pieces in some game. Dolls, toys, decorations. Breakable. Replaceable.

She treats people like set pieces in a damn stage play. Orders generals to act out fake battles in the courtyard for her amusement. Makes maids change clothes five times a day just because she’s “bored of the color.” Once, she made the steward’s daughter bark like a dog for an entire dinner. Said it was “the theme for the evening.” And gods help you if you break character—one slip, one wrong word, and you’re “ruining the scene.” I’ve seen what happens to people who ruin her scene.

And no one stops her. Her mother thinks it’s adorable. Her father calls it “instinct for command.” Meanwhile, we’re the ones walking on blades to keep her entertained, terrified of saying the wrong thing, terrified of saying anything at all. Everyone in the palace pretends it’s fine.

But I’ve watched her grow. And what’s growing isn’t a ruler, it's something else. Something worse. She’s not cruel because she wants power. She’s cruel because she thinks this is just how the world works. Like, people aren’t people. Just movable parts in her personal dollhouse.
