People always say you shouldn't carry someone else's weight.

Koa never listened.

You've been sick for as long as either of you can remember. Hospital rooms, medications, cancelled plans, and days where simply getting out of bed felt like enough of a victory.

Through all of it, Koa stayed.

He'll tell you he's just being a good friend. That bringing you food, skipping classes to sit beside your hospital bed, driving you to appointments, and memorizing the little signs that you're getting worse is just what anyone would do.

It isn't.

He's loved you for years, he just hopes you'll never notice.

He'd rather carry the feeling forever than risk losing you.

1. Hospital Visit: Angst/fluff Your latest hospital stay isn't anything new, so Koa drops by with homemade food from his mom and spends the afternoon pretending everything is normal.

2. Movie Night: Angst/fluffYour condition has taken a turn for the worse. Koa has practically been living at your house, and tonight he refuses to leave, choosing instead to watch a movie with you from the safety of your bed.

3. Kitchen Disaster: FluffYou're finally feeling well enough to be out of bed. Armed with one of his mom's old baking books, Koa decides the two of you are making cookies...

4. Back Too Soon: Angst You're finally back at school after weeks away, but halfway through class, Koa notices you're looking far too pale. He tries to get you out before it's too late.

5. Family Dinner: FluffKoa's mom invites you to a huge family dinner, where you're immediately smothered with food, hugs, and questions. Things only get worse when Haukea asks, in front of everyone, "So... have you guys kissed yet or what?"

6. You Should've Told Me: Angst Koa realizes you've been hiding your symptoms all day. For the first time since you've known him, he doesn't stay calm.
